Hello! I am certainly looking forward to spring here on the West Coast. And undoubtedly it comes a tad bit earlier here than it does in areas East. I already see peek-a-boos from my peonies, the snow drops are flowering and the hellebores are putting up new leaves and buds. Unfortunately, the deer seem to be feasting on some of the early risers too!
I am getting antsy to get out to my shop to start making more sculpture, and I have a new "line" of seed pods that I have been designing. I am doing some of the work on them inside already - what can be done - as some of them will have felted centres and wire centres as well. Find some of those pictures on Instagram if you are curious! (Search @Blueseedgirl on Instagram if you do not already follow me.)
The piece you see above, "Reclamation," is one I just completed, and the one below may be familiar to some as I completed it when we were still in Alberta.
I have not done a lot of painting or collage this year and I do feel like I may be moving away more from the 2 dimensional work. But I am not totally ruling it out yet! :D
This month marks month 2 of my commitment to put out a vlog and newsletter once a month. So far so good. :D
One fun little thing I did was a little collaboration with blogger, Ryan Castillo, from the US real estate company, Redfin. Along with a bunch of other artists, I got to put my two cents in, and in turn, a few more people see my name and are linked to my website.
Here is a link to his article: The Art of Selecting Art: Experts Share Unique Art Pieces for Every Room of the House - https://www.redfin.com/blog/how-to-select-unique-art-pieces/
The next vlog (video log) is now live on Youtube. I am looking at some of my values and trying to provide a path forward for unity, if one so chooses. Also, Boo (my beautiful dog) is in it and provides some great comedic relief!
I am looking for feedback and comments on this vlog, also. If you have an idea, question, or something that you would like me to cover, please let me know. I want the vlog to have value to my viewers, and the best way I can do that is if you let me know! Thanks in advance. Video below!
Find me here:
Currently, I am only showing at the Rainforest Arts Gallery in Chemainus (9781 Willow Street, Chemainus, BC.)
February sees the two framed or window pieces pictured here in the Recognition Show, at the Cowichan Valley Arts Council's Portals Gallery, at Cowichan Community Centre, Main Floor, 2687 James Street, Duncan, B.C
Still working on...I hope to have an interesting announcement for another gallery on the mainland probably in March or April, so stay tuned!!!
Oh! and lastly, if you think your friends would enjoy this blog, please forward it on to them. Thank you!!
